Information and communication technology (ICT) architects in Australia earned a national average salary of more than $135,000 in the 2017 financial year, according to advertised job listings on SEEK.
The employment search platform said that salaries in job opportunities have increased nationwide compared to year-ago figures. For the ICT sector, as explained by DBA Services and other experts, a DBA consultant may earn the same average pay to architects in the industry.
The average advertised salary in Australia rose 1.8% to more than $81,000 in the 2017 financial year. By region, the highest growth occurred in Western Australia and Tasmania, where salaries increased 3.7% and 2.8%, respectively.
On the other hand, those working in the Australian Capital Territory earned the highest average at over $85,000, while average pay in New South Wales amounted to more than $83,000. According to SEEK spokeswoman Kendra Banks, salary growth in the current fiscal year represents good news following a slow pace of growth in the previous financial year.
Jobs in the ICT sector served as one of the preferred career choices for boys between 14 and 15 years old, according to a national study by the Australian Institute of Family Studies. Aside from the ICT industry, the study found that most of the male respondents want a career in engineering, transportation, or construction, said Anne Hollonds, the institute’s director.
For teenage girls, Hollonds said that a career in teaching, law or social studies landed as the most attractive choices. Only 11% of the surveyed respondents chose uncommon careers such as a ballet dancer or a YouTuber.
Job seekers in Australia will find it easier to find a well-paying job, as salaries have increased better in recent months. For companies, using competitive remuneration packages can be one way to attract the best candidates and outsmart their business rivals.
